PV Sindhu to Compete at Women's Singles in Malaysia Masters 2024

P.V. Sindhu, a two-time Olympic Games medallist, will return to the court in the opening round at the women's singles event at Malaysia Masters 2024 against Scotland's Kristy Gilmour who is placed World No. 22 at the Axiata Arena. P.V. Sindhu is a fifth-seeded player who secured the Malaysia Masters in 2013 and 2016.
PV Sindhu, a top-ranked player, who recently returned from an injury, will start her preparations for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. She has won multiple medals at the BWF World Championships, including gold in 2019 and silver in 2017 and 2018, and is set to add another to her impressive collection. Other Indian athletes in the women's singles main draw include Asmita Chaliha, Unnati Hooda, and Aakarshi Kashyap. Aakarshi Kashyap will face second-seeded Wang Zhi Yi, Unnati Hooda faces Gao Fang Jie, and Ashmita Chaliha faces Lin Su Yu in a first-round match.
In the qualification rounds, Tanya Hemanth lost to Lin Sih Yun 23-31, 21-8 whereas Pantichaphon Teeraratsakul defeated Ayush Shetty 23-21, 16-21, 21-17 in a tough competition. In addition to this, Indian women's doubles team Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand advanced to the second round of the Malaysia Masters Super 500, defeating Huang Yu-Hsun and Liang Ting Yu, 21-14, 21-10 in straight games.
