Congress national secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra pledged free-riding on government buses, three free LPS cylinders each year, a raise in Asha workers' honorarium and widow pension, and 40 % reservations in government positions for women if the party won the 2022 Assembly elections, underlined in the party's women special manifesto, released on Monday

The Congress' prior vows to reserve 40% of its seats for female candidates, as well as to provide free smartphones to Class 10 girls and e-scooters to college students, were also included in the eight-point manifesto.

Priyanka tweeted, “Meri priya behnon, apka har din sangharshon se bhara hai. Congress party ne usko smajhte hue apke liye alag se ek mahila Ghoshna patra tyar kiya hai.” (Dear sisters, your days are filled with adversity. Taking this into account, the Congress has created a specific manifesto exclusively for you.).

In a tweet thread, Priyanka said according to “reserve provisions”, the government would allocate a quota of jobs for women.

The Congress representative claimed that if the Congress entered in government, Asha and Anganwari employees, who have long demanded a hike in their honorarium, would be granted INR 10,000 per month, while old age widow pensioners would be given INR 1,000.

Asha employees wrote to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath last week, requesting a monthly compensation of INR 10,000 and INR 10 lakh health insurance policy. They have been striking outside the offices of the state's main medical officers and have vowed to boycott work if their demands are not satisfied.

Frontline health professionals had previously received a special Covid honorarium from the government. Adityanath has also pledged to double the honorarium for Asha employees, benefiting over 1.5 lakh of them.

The Congress claimed that 75 "Dakshata Vidyalaya" will be established each named after a woman. According to sources, these institutions will give women with skill training.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Sachin Pilot in Lucknow sharpened his assault on the BJP, saying it obtained the people's mandate by falsehoods (jhoot), deception (chhal), and camouflage (chhadam), then violated the faith, and is now striving to enrich its capitalistic allies. He stated that Priyanka Gandhi works for the honour and justice of farmers, youth, an underprivileged and women.
