President Murmu Highlights Importance of Women's Education at University of Madras' 165th Convocation

On Sunday, the University of Madras held its 165th convocation where President Draupadi Murmu expressed her views on women's education that they can have a greater impact on society by providing leadership in a variety of fields and contributing more to the economy. She also expressed her happiness that more than half of the approximately 1.85 lakh students currently enrolled in the varsity and its affiliated colleges are female.
In his address to the graduating batch, Governor R. N. Ravi urged them to explore the opportunities of entrepreneurship in resurgent India carrying the utmost self-confidence to fulfill their dreams.
Stalin stated that his administration is working diligently to develop a distinctive "State Education Policy" looking forward to Tamil Nadu's history of industrial thought process, future objectives, and also a vision for the economic growth of the nation. He also mentioned that Tamil Nadu is a giant in education and attributed the state's success to the seeds sown to foster learning about a century ago during the Justice Party-led regime. A large number of educational and research institutions are established here which excel in higher education.
The President noted that this University was established in 1857, making it one of India's first modern universities. According to her, this university has maintained high academic standards throughout its more than 165-year history which provides and encourages intellectual curiosity and critical thinking.
She later emphasized about the varsity's alumni can contribute significantly towards the development of the nation on a global scale. The varsity needs to be at the forefront of developing knowledge-based solutions to the issues affecting the country and the world while discussing the future role.
