President Murmu Emphasizes the Role of Higher Education in Promoting Constitutional Ideals

President Droupadi Murmu emphasizes the pivotal role of higher education institutions in promoting constitutional ideals and fostering innovation during the concluding session of the Visitor's Conference 2023 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She suggests recognizing and rewarding institutions that generate valuable intellectual property and revenue through patents and innovations.
President Murmu highlights the significance of innovation, research, and development as prime drivers of economic and social progress. She underscores the National Education Policy 2020's emphasis on creativity and innovation, emphasizing the importance of promoting outstanding research.
Acknowledging the global focus on innovation among leading universities and technology institutions, the President believes that higher education institutions in India have the potential to become research and innovation powerhouses. She expresses satisfaction that Indian higher education institutions are transitioning towards promoting startups.
Addressing the topic of digital inclusion, the President commends India's digital infrastructure and inclusion, noting that 46% of global digital transactions occur in India.
The President commends the relevance of the conference's theme and sub-themes for India and the world, stating that the views presented are concise and actionable. She emphasizes the need to put policies into practice and cites the Digital India initiative as a successful example. The initiative aims to digitally empower Indian society and transform the country's economy, achieving impressive results through effective implementation and public participation.
President Murmu also expresses confidence that similar transformative and inclusive outcomes will be achieved in higher education. She highlights the importance of the discussion on internationalization efforts and the G-20 in positioning India as a Knowledge Superpower. India actively seeks collective solutions to global challenges alongside G-20 countries, guided by the mantra of 'One Earth, One Family, One Future.'
The concluding session also features Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's address, further underscoring the government's commitment to promoting excellence in higher education.
