President Biden Elects Two India American Women to Key Admin Positions

US President Joe Biden announced the appointment of Meera Joshi and Radhika Fox, two American Indian women to central administration positions. The top attorney and executive had joined the Biden administration on Jan 20, the very first day of the Biden presidency.

Meera Joshi has been promoted to act as the Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration in the Department of Transportation. Radhika has come on board as the new Assistant Administrator for Water, Environmental Protection Agency, the White House said in a statement.

Meera is an experienced senior attorney having led government oversight agencies for over a decade. She was also the Chair and CEO of the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission, the nation's largest for-hire transportation regulator. She had spearheaded novel Vision Zero campaigns using data tools to keep high-risk drivers and unsafe vehicles off the road.

Radhika currently functions as the Acting Assistant Administer for Water. Her primary roles are ensuring safe drinking water for all, proper treatment of waste water, and managing and protecting surface water.

Along with these appointments, President Biden also vocalized his desire to appoint Faisal Amin as the Chief Financial Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Faisal currently functions as the Deputy Director of Office of Administration in the Executive Office of the President.

These three nominations by President Biden were part of the decision of selecting 12 members to look after departments of climate and transportation matters across key agencies, including the Department of Energy, Department of the Interior, Environmental Protection Agency, and Department of Transportation.
