
Pres Murmu Calls for Global Collaboration to Empower Women in Knowledge Sector

President of India, Droupadi Murmu, inaugurated the two-day Visitor’s Conference 2024-25 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. As the Visitor of 184 Central Institutes of Higher Education in India, she addressed the leaders of these institutions, stressing that the development of a country is directly reflected in the quality of its education system.
The President highlighted the vital role these institutions play in advancing India’s goal of becoming a global hub for knowledge. She underscored the importance of balancing education with focused research and encouraged institutions to make the most of the Government’s National Research Fund initiative. She expressed confidence that this fund would drive significant progress in research and innovation across the country’s higher education sector.
President Murmu stated that the goal of the Indian higher education community should be for researchers from Indian institutions to gain global recognition, for patents from these institutions to drive worldwide change, and for students from developed countries to choose India as their preferred destination for higher education.
President Murmu highlighted that Indian students contribute significantly to top educational institutions and developed economies with their talent. She stressed the importance of leveraging this talent within our own country. She further stated that India’s goal of becoming a Global Knowledge Superpower will only be realized when the global community is eager to embrace the work being done in our laboratories.
During the inaugural session, the President presented the eighth Visitor’s Awards in the categories of Innovation, Research, and Technology Development.
Saripella Srikrishna from Banaras Hindu University received the Visitor’s Award for Innovation for his work in Quantum Technology to support the National Green Hydrogen Mission. Ashwini Kumar Nangia from the University of Hyderabad was awarded the Visitor’s Award for Research in Physical Sciences for his research in developing high bioavailability drugs with enhanced efficacy and affordability.
