PM Modi to Visit Wardha to Launch Programs for Artisans & Women Entrepreneurs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a visit to Wardha, Maharashtra, on Friday to take part in several significant events, including the ‘PM Vishwakarma’ programme, which is celebrating its one-year anniversary. This initiative is designed to support and empower traditional artisans and craftspeople throughout the country.

At the programme, Prime Minister issues the certificates and loans to beneficiaries of the scheme. To continue the support for artisans, government will extend credit to 18 beneficiaries from 18 different trades. Prime Minister will unveil a commemorative stamp in recognition of their contributions to society to honor the contributions of these artisans and celebrate the scheme's impact over the past year.

To enhance India’s textile industry, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Amravati, Maharashtra. This 1,000-acre park is one of the seven PM MITRA Parks developed by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and approved by the Government of India.

The initiative seeks to establish India as a global hub for textile manufacturing and exports by creating world-class infrastructure that attracts significant investments, including foreign direct investment (FDI), while promoting innovation and job creation in the sector. Furthermore, the Prime Minister will launch the “Acharya Chanakya Skill Development Center” scheme, initiated by the Maharashtra government. This programme will establish skill development centres in key colleges across the state, providing free training to youth aged 15 to 45, thus enabling them to become self-sufficient and access various employment opportunities. Approximately 150,000 young people will benefit from this training every year.

In support of women entrepreneurs, PM Modi is introducing the “Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Women Startup Scheme,”. This will provide financial assistance of up to ₹25 lakh to early-stage women-led startups in Maharashtra. Remarkably 25% of the funding is under this scheme will be allocated for women from backward classes and economically disadvantaged groups. This initiative aims to empower women entrepreneurs, supporting their independence and self-reliance.
