PM Modi Congratulates Priya Malik & 12 Others for winning Medals at World Cadet Wrestling Championship

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian wrestling team on their 13 medals at the World Cadet Championships in Budapest, Hungary, on Monday.
"Our sportspersons continue to make us proud. India wins 13 medals, including 5 Golds at the World Cadet Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Congratulations to our team and best wishes for their future endeavours," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
On Sunday, Indian grappler Priya Malik won gold by defeating Kseniya Patapovich 5-0 in the final. She took first place in the women's 73kg weight class. She also won gold at the 2019 edition of Khelo India in Pune before going on to win gold at the 17th School Games in Delhi.
The wrestler is from Jind, Haryana, and attends Choudhary Bharat Singh Memorial School. Her father, Jayabhagwan Nidani, is a veteran of the Indian army.
Priya Malik won gold at the 2019 edition of Khelo India in Pune before going on to win gold at the 17th School Games in New Delhi the following year. Aside from these victories, Priya went on to win two more gold medals the following year, in 2020.
Her next two gold medals came at the Patna National Cadet Championship and the National School Games, respectively. She is also the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal at the World Wrestling Championship.
Tannu, Komal, Aman Gulia, Sagar Jaglan, Chirag, and Jaideep were also among those who won gold with the Freestyle Team.
Ankit Gulia, Varsha, and Sahil had to settle for bronze, while Jaskaran Singh and the India Women's Wrestling team took silver.
