The Pune Knowledge Cluster (PKC) is launching its first scholarship programme for Maharashtra girls interested in pursuing higher education and research in chemistry and related fields next month.
Under the WEnyan (Women in Education) scholarship, PKC will grant three, six, or nine-month scholarships to 43 women from underprivileged backgrounds to work in this field during the next two years.
Priya Nagaraj, the PKC's chief operational officer, stated, “This scholarship mainly aims to help girl students continue and pursue chemical sciences. The project outcome will be monitored regularly,”
Early-stage women entrepreneurs interested in chemistry, agrochemistry, medicinal chemistry, novel materials, sustainability, and related fields can apply for the scholarship.
Female graduates with entrepreneurial ideas will be mentored for a maximum of nine months under this programme, during which time they will be able to develop, hone, and take their entrepreneurial ideas to the next level.
Industry visits, interactions with scientists and mentors, peer networking, and popular speeches by prominent scientists and entrepreneurs will all be made possible through the programme.
On June 1, the month-long application procedure will begin.
