Paris Olympics 2024: PV Sindhu Becomes Flag Bearer of Indian Women Contingent

The Paris Olympics 2024 is all set to kickstart tomorrow, 26 July 2024 and India's contingent for the mega event is impressive, with 117 athletes and 140 support staff members. The squad includes 70 male and 47 women athletes across 16 sports disciplines. The archery and rowing teams arrived on July 19 while the men's hockey team arrived on July 20. Athletics has the greatest number of representatives, with 29 players, followed by shooting with 21 players, and hockey with 19 players.
Olympic medallist, PV Sindhu will be the flag bearer for the women's team during the opening ceremony sharing the honor with the men's team flag bearer, Sharath Kamal. In India, the games will be broadcast on Sports 18 TV channels and live-streamed on the Jio Cinema app and website. Additionally, India's President of the Indian Olympics Association, PT Usha, arrived in Paris to join the Indian Contingent of 117 athletes at the Olympic Village. She will encourage and support the athletes during the summer games, marking the start of India's Paris Olympics campaign.
India's archery qualifications will commence on July 25, a day ahead of the official opening ceremony. The Women's Individual Ranking Round for the extravagant event will start at 1:00 PM IST. Indian archers, including Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai, Pravin Jadhav, Bhajan Kaur, Deepika Kumari, and Ankita Bhakat, are slated to start their campaign today.
