Parashooter Mona Aggarwal clinches Gold at World Shooting Para Sport

The World Shooting Para Sport competition was held in Changwon, Korea where Indian parashooter Mona Aggarwal clinched a gold medal in the women's 10m air rifle, and Army soldier Amir Ahmed Bhatt took home a silver in the 25m pistol. With a final score of 250.8, Mona grabbed the gold medal in the R2-10-meter air rifle standing GH1. Her consistent performance, scoring more than 10 points on all her 24 attempts got her this feat.
This is her second World Cup title this year as she has sealed a Paralympic quota for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris at the World Cup in New Delhi. Mona has demonstrated her commitment and proficiency in the para shooting event showcasing a remarkable talent and perseverance as the only Indian competitor at the WSPS World Cup. She aims to win her first-ever Paralympic medal at the Paris Olympics.
Indian women athletes have made significant contributions to the Paralympic Games over the years with notable achievements including Deepa Malik who holds the title of the first Indian woman to win a Paralympic medal and served as the President of the Paralympic Committee of India. Ekta Bhyan, a club thrower, won gold at the Asian Para Games in 2018 while Avani Lekhara won two medals creating history by being the first woman to do so. Palak Kohli and Rubina Francis are the next rising stars aiming to contribute to India's medal tally with their hard work and spirit.
