The state government has given approval to Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam to debute a post-graduate programme in public policy, putting more emphasis on women's empowerment. This is the state's first MA program in public policy. For individuals hoping to get into the civil service, the stream of public policy is very important. Indeed, prestigious universities including as IIT and IIMs have begun to offer MA public policy programmes in order to assist more students from their campuses in mastering the art of civil service achievement.
Notably, Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMV) was the first to provide an exclusive public policy programme at the graduate level, which began in 2018-19.
Dr. Sujatha, the course organiser, stated, “BA public policy and anthropology course, which was introduced in our university in the 2018-19 academic year, has proved to be a big hit with the students. We have decided to launch MA public policy from the current academic year,”
Dr. Mohan Kanda, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Dr. K V Satyanarayana, and Dr. Ashok, all former chief secretaries, will serve as mentors and consultants to the institution while the stream is developed. Some of the leaders have volunteered to come to the institution to offer their expertise and serve as chief faculty.
Dr. P Lakshmaiah, the head of the NGO Para Association of Rural Development (PARD), which created the courses specifically for Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam, stated, “this is expected to bring huge experience to the campus and help the students in realizing their civils dreams.”
Engineering and medical graduates were also able to enrol in the M A public policy degree, which was primarily geared to give coaching for civil service examinations, according to Dr Lakshmaiah, a well-known figure in giving coaching to civil service hopefuls in Hyderabad.
Dr Lakshmaiah underlined, “Public policy is nothing but the confluence of economics, public administration, political science and anthropology. All the subjects are included in the civil services preliminary examination and mains examination and hence the subjects were dealt in different semesters so that the student can learn the public policy as well as prepare for the civil services preliminary and mains exam nation. This course has been introduced to give impetus to women empowerment to help them crack the civil services as well as the groups in the state.”
