
Odisha Govt's Subhadra Yojana Receives Boost to Enhance Women Led Empowerment

On Monday, Bhubaneshwar CM Mohan Charan Majhi launched 'Subhandra Plus', an expanded initiative that introduces 10 new programs, including Subhadra Sakhi, Subhadra Sangh, and Sujogya Subhadra, aimed at amplifying the impact of the existing Subhadra scheme and fostering women-ledempowerment. The scheme has been allocated a proposed budget of Rs 10,145 crore for the 2025-26financial year, with an additional Rs 153 crore earmarked for Subhadra Surakshya to ensure the safety and security of women.
Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana introduced to ease the financial burden of weddings in poor families, with an allocation of Rs 12 crore for mass marriages, covering all expenses. Itallocated Rs526crore to improve the nutrition of women, adolescent girls, and children.Launch of Odisha Pusti Mission with a budget of Rs 100 crore to enhance the delivery of nutritional support.
Rs 284 crore allocated under the Poshan scheme to improve the nutritional outcomes of women and children, complementing other schemes.
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) benefits increased, with maternity assistance raised from Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 for the birth of both a boy and a girl child. Rs 284 crore allocated under the Mamata Scheme for maternal and child health and Rs 208 crore allocated under PMMVY for conditional cash transfers to pregnant and lactating mothers.
Mission Shakti department allocated Rs 2,775 crore to support schemes aimed at making women self-reliant and financially independent under the Lakhpati Didi initiative. Rs 130 crore allocated for the Khushi scheme to promote menstrual hygiene and awareness.
The Sudakshya Scheme focuses on empowering girl students through vocational and technical education. Rs 26 crore proposed for the Sudakshya Scheme, which has successfully increased girls' enrolment in government ITIs, and polytechnics, promoting inclusivity and economic mobility.
