Three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) are part of the Indian women's cricket team's upcoming tour of Bangladesh. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the hiring of Nooshin Al Khadeer as the temporary head coach for the bilateral series because the side is currently without a head coach.
The team has been without a head coach since Ramesh Powar stepped down from the role. While it is widely expected that Amol Muzumdar will take up the position, an official announcement is still pending. In the meantime, Nooshin Al Khadeer, a former Indian cricketer, has been given the responsibility of leading the team during the Bangladesh tour.
Nooshin Al Khadeer has already showcased her coaching prowess in the women's cricket arena. Under her leadership, the Indian U19 team emerged victorious in the first-ever Women's U19 World Cup held in South Africa earlier this year. She has also coached the U23 team to the title in the Emerging Asia Cup held in Hong Kong. Her experience and success in mentoring young cricketers make her a suitable choice for the interim head coach role.
The team is scheduled to depart for Bangladesh on July 6, with the players assembling in Mumbai on July 5. Nooshin Al Khadeer, currently serving as the head coach of the Railways team in the Indian domestic circuit, brings a wealth of experience to the role. The Railways team has been a dominant force in domestic competitions and has secured numerous title wins.
In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Nooshin has been actively involved in nurturing young female cricketers and collaborating closely with the National Cricket Academy (NCA) over the past two years. Her dedication to the development of women's cricket in India has earned her respect within the cricketing community.
Assisting Nooshin Al Khadeer during the Bangladesh tour will be Apurva Desai and Rajib Dutta, faculty members from the NCA. Their expertise and support will further strengthen the team's preparation for the series against Bangladesh.
The appointment of Nooshin Al Khadeer as the interim head coach marks an important step for women's cricket in India. With her experience and passion for the game, she is well-equipped to guide the Indian women's team to success in the upcoming tour. The players, under her leadership, will strive to showcase their skills and bring glory to the nation.
