Noida Administration mandates Female Trainers in Gyms & Other Fitness Centers

The Noida administration has made it mandatory for gyms, swimming pools, and yoga centers to hire female trainers alongside their male counterparts. This follows a recommendation from the Uttar Pradesh State Women's Commission to enhance workplace safety and inclusivity. The move follows broader measures to include women staff in school buses, dance instructors, boutiques, and garment shops.
The State Women's Commission emphasized the need to establish these measures to ensure workplace safety and provide employment opportunities for women. The Noida order restricts gyms, pools, and yoga establishments to include women trainers, despite the male-dominated nature of the fitness-training field.
Deputy District Sports Officer, Anita Nagar says these measures will enhance safety and professionalism at the facilities. She mentioned "This regulation applies to all fitness establishments, including those operating within schools and colleges across the district. The owners of these facilities must ensure that they have women trainers in keeping with the new requirements."
The order issues mandates to hire female trainers within two days, which sets an unrealistic target. The administration mandates trainers to carry Aadhaar cards and ensure facilities have CCTV cameras and DVRs. The sports department oversees 400 gyms, 300 swimming pools, 100 academies, and yoga centers.
