On June 24, the Reliance Foundation announced a collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to bridge the gender digital divide in India.
During the 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), which was streamed virtually on June 24, Nita Ambani announced that the Reliance Foundation has partnered with USAID to launch the Women Connect India Challenge this year.
"The partnership that aims to empower more and more Indian women with digital access and opportunity. Digital technology truly is the backbone of this new world order," she said in her speech.
On International Women's Day this year, Nita Ambani, chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, also launched “Her Circle”, a digital platform for women that she describes as "inclusive, collaborative, interactive, and socially-conscious digital movement."
On the occasion of the launch, Mrs. Nita M. Ambani, Chairperson, Reliance Foundation, said, “When women lean on women, incredible things happen! I should know. All my life I have been surrounded by strong women from whom I have learnt compassion, resilience, and positivity; and in return I have strived to pass on my learnings to others. As a daughter who grew up in a family of 11 girls, I was taught to believe in myself. From my daughter Isha, I have received unconditional love and confidence to continue to follow my dreams. From my daughter-in-law Shloka, I have learnt empathy and patience. Whether it is the women from Reliance Foundation or the national and international women leaders that I have worked with, our shared experiences show me that in the end our struggles and triumphs resonate with each other.”
Her Circle is envisioned as a global digital collective of women, beginning with Indian women but open to women from all over the world. It is a comprehensive content, social media, and goal achievement community that caters to the rapidly rising aspirations, ambitions, dreams, and competencies of women from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
The initiative aims to be a global digital collective of women, starting with Indian women but open to participation from women all over the world.
"It is an all-encompassing content, social media, and goal fulfillment community that caters to the rapidly rising aspirations, ambitions, dreams, and competencies of women of all social backgrounds," said Ambani.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is an independent federal government agency in the United States that is primarily in charge of administering civilian foreign aid and development assistance.
