NGMA organizes 'Nabha Sparsh - Indian Women Printmakers' Exhibition in Delhi

The National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in Delhi has opened an exhibition titled "Nabha Sparsh - Indian Women Printmakers," featuring over 120 artists from the field. The exhibition showcases both traditional and new technologies in contemporary Indian printmaking and is aimed at inclusivity, with sign language interpretations accessible via QR code scanning, highlighting the diversity of styles and thematic concerns.
The exhibition, curated by NGMA and inaugurated by the Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat showcases contemporary Indian printmaking styles and themes, featuring renowned artists including, Anupam Sud, Gigi Saroj Pal, Jayasri Burman, Zarina Hashmi, Kanchan Chander, Lalitha Lajmi, Jaya Appaswamy, Pratibha Dakoji, Sudeshna Sengupta, Kavita Nayar, Shobha Broota, Krishna Devayani, Rini Dhumal, Shobha Ghare, Nilima Sheikh, and Naina Dalal.
Union Culture Minister highlighted the importance of women's contributions beyond visual arts, emphasizing their vital role in life and the importance of their empowerment through Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led initiatives. He further stated that this exhibition showcases printmaking's traditional and innovative aspects, promoting inclusivity and pushing boundaries in the medium, showcasing the medium's dynamic history.
The NGMA-led exhibition showcases the work of female printmakers in India, highlighting their diverse contributions to the art form. The collection includes etchings, lithographs, woodcuts, and screen prints, showcasing their experiences and insights.
