Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani praised the state's role in the pharma sector, saying that Gujarat accounts for approximately 25% of India's $24 million in exports.

She was speaking at the inauguration of a national conference titled "Soaring Heights of Empowerment in Pharma & Healthcare Industry."

A knowledge report titled “Future impact on Pharma & Healthcare with Diversity & Inclusivity: Vision 2030” was also released by the minister.

In a greeting on the state's Formation Day, she emphasised Gujarat's role in the pharmaceutical industry, claiming that the state accounts for roughly a quarter of India's 24 million USD exports. She highlighted her worry about the dearth of possibilities for women in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, and hoped that the conference will serve to foster discourse, discussion, and action toward the objective of more women working in these fields.

The conference's purpose, according to Deepa Sharma, was to focus on boosting women's entrepreneurship and engagement in healthcare and pharmaceuticals in order to drive dialogue and action. "With a goal to contribute to the national agenda of celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, she continued, "we hope that the conference is instrumental in fuelling the entrepreneurial spirit."

"Business is in every Gujarati's DNA," said Dr Viranchi Shah, National President of the Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association, "and with the minister's emphasis on strong engagement by women, "I am confident that more participation from Women entrepreneurs & professionals will happen. The deliberations and outcome from this conference will help the stakeholders to have a look on how to further strengthen diversity and inclusivity in this industry.”

The conference also emphasised the necessity of diversity and inclusivity in various industries, as well as the push to Make in India and help more women break into the workforce through entrepreneurship.
