In order to ensure the holistic development of women traders and to provide them with a variety of entrepreneurial options, the National Commission for Women (NCW) and the State Commission for Women hosted a one-day "Capacity Building Training Programme."
N. Biren Singh, the chief minister of Manipur, Heikham Dingo Singh, the minister of social welfare, and Rekha Sharma, the chairperson of NCW, all attended this ceremony as honorary guests.
The majority of the women working the stalls in these markets are found in Ima Keithel in Manipur, the largest all-market women's in Asia.
In support of the women traders of three Ima Keithels, NCW organised this one-day training programme as part of the Commission's programmes in the northeastern states, enhancing their means of sustenance, social security, and general quality of life.
The Manipur Chief Minister also praised the NCW activities for women's empowerment and urged women involvement.
He mentioned that one more Ima market will open soon after the construction of seven more Ima marketplaces.
Taking to Twitter, the Manipur CM wrote “Truly honoured to attend the inaugural function of “Capacity Building Training Programme for Women Traders of 3 Ima Keithels” at Imphal Hotel. The program was graced by Smt @sharmarekha Ji, Chairperson, National Commission for Women.”
“With this training program, I’m hopeful that they will be able to get the right entrepreneurial skills to compete with the well established entrepreneurs. Also, observed a one-minute silence and prayed for the victims of the recent landslide in Noney.” – he further added.
Speaking at the ceremony, NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma noted that Manipur has women in every field and that they have demonstrated their ability to manage everything.
“We want women of Manipur to sell their products in the e-market as well. Women here must not limit themselves to Manipur. The world is changing and women must be aware of the technology so that their products can reach anywhere in the world. We will give them wings to fly and train them in e-commerce and other technology so that the world comes to know about these products,” – stated Sharma.
The Commission had also invited notable figures from various government agencies and the banking industry to serve as resource persons and inform the ladies on important subjects, such as e-commerce, banking, tax legislation, etc.
This training programme, meanwhile, was broken up into three technical sessions. Knowledge of Important Banking Schemes and How to Use Online Banking was the focus of the first session. Knowledge of Tax Laws/GST Laws and Tax Compliances was the subject of the second session, and E-Commerce Demonstration was the subject of the third.
