The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) launched the Nandini Sahakar Scheme, a financial assistance framework for women cooperatives. The scheme provides resources, training, and support to help women start and expand cooperative ventures. It promotes gender equality and economic independence, aiming to create a conducive environment for women to thrive in their entrepreneurial endeavors.
The Nandini Sahakar Scheme aims to improve women's socio-economic status and entrepreneurial dynamism through women's cooperatives that align with the Atmanirbhar Bharat principles outlined by the Indian Prime Minister. As of the first quarter of 2024, the scheme has disbursed Rs 6426.36 crore for the development of cooperative societies exclusively promoted by women across India. The scheme's funding combines women's enterprise inputs, business plan formulation, capacity development, credit and subsidy, and interest subvention.
The NCDC launched scheme provides financial aid, training, and resource access to women-led cooperatives, aiming to help them overcome initial hurdles and sustain their operations. It also offers mentorship and networking opportunities, focusing on sectors where women's participation can be significant. The scheme is designed to be inclusive, making it accessible to women from various socio-economic backgrounds, including rural and marginalized communities.
