National Child & Women Protection Bodies Facing Staff Shortage in India

Amidst the time of increasing crimes against children and women, National child and women protection bodies are facing alarming levels of staff shortage that also includes Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD).
Government in Parliament has submitted a data analysis that reveals a nearly 40% cumulative vacancy rate within the Ministry of Women and Child Development along with its statutory and autonomous bodies. They are also responsible for making sure of children and women’s protection, indicating a 4 out of every 10 sanctioned posts are vacant within Group A, B and C in these segments.
The apex panel of India has consigned with statutory powers with an intent to protect children as well as their rights with highest rate of vacancy at the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). In addition, 32 of the 36 sanctioned posts at an 89% vacancy rate in the NCPCR within administrative segments i.e., groups A, B and C are lying vacant.
NCPCR which was established under an Act of the Parliament in 2007 and given the responsibility to take care of all laws, policies, programmes and administrative systems that imitate with the vision of rights of the children as enunciated in the Indian Constitution alongside United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
