Must Resolve to Change Tradition & Policy That Hinders Progress of Women said President Kovind

Empowering women must start at home. Not just #womensupportingwomen but there is a need for #mensupportingwomen too for the better community, said the first citizen of India, President Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
"On the occasion of International Women's Day, I extend my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to all the women," President Kovind said.
Extending his wishes to the women of the country the President of India added, “Let us dedicate this occasion of International Women's Day to the honour, safety and empowerment of women and resolve that we will support them in changing every tradition & policy that hinders their progress.”
President Kovind shared his views on empowering women and improving socio-status of women in India. President said that, much has to be done to further improve the socio-economic status of women in the country.
"We all have to work relentlessly towards women's safety, education and independence because only by doing so, we will be able to pave the way for women, especially our daughters, to become more active, capable and empowered," Kovind said.
International Women's Day is celebration globally on March 8th. The day legitimacy when the United Nations began commemorating International Women's Day in 1975 and two years later, The UN General Assembly officially formalized March 8th as International Women's Day. It all started as a labor movement when women marched through new York city demanding shorter working hours, better pay and the right to vote on march 8th.
The world celebrates it annually so as to honour all women who are leading the global fight for women's right. The day also reminds a call to take action for accelerating gender parity.
"Nevertheless, much remains to be done to further improve the socio-economic status of women in India. We all have to work relentlessly towards women's safety, education and independence because only by doing so, we will be able to pave the way for women, especially our daughters, to become more active, capable and empowered," President Kovind added.
He also extended his resolve to support women in changing every tradition and policy that hinders their progress.
President Kovind also took to Twitter to greet women on the occasion of International Women’s Day. “Women in our country are setting new records and achievements in various fields. Let us collectively resolve to promote gender justice and eliminate inequality between women and men,” he tweeted.
