Within the first 100 days of the new government, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) plans to train around 150,000 women under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). About one-third of these women will attain modern skills. MSDE will prioritize apprenticeship opportunities in addition to skill development, hoping to enlist some 500,000 additional apprentices.
The newly formed Indian government shows commitment to empowering women through skill development and fostering industry partnerships through this initiative. It also plans to launch demand-based financing solutions in order to encourage skill course adoption, operationalize new IIS Mumbai and Ahmedabad, and expand Skill India International Centers and Jan Shikshan Sansthan. The government will prioritize skilling programs, entrepreneurship, and industry partnerships, enabling new labs at existing Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).
Jayant Chaudhary, Union Skill Minister along with senior officials and stakeholders assessed MSDE's progress, praised efforts, and called for increased collaboration with industry partners to improve apprenticeship and vocational training programs. The Union Skill Minister mentioned, "It is necessary to have a unified effort to ensure successful implementation and expansion of skill development initiatives across the nation. We must focus on close collaboration and convergence with other ministries and states to bring scale and speed to the skill ecosystem.”
