The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) held its 39th Annual Convention, focusing on the future of tourism in India, with Madhya Pradesh emerging as a central focus. The state is planning to develop over 50 offbeat destinations to diversify its offerings and boost women's participation. Industry leaders and government officials convened to explore new tourism strategy spots across MP, aiming to develop lesser-known tourist spots beyond popular destinations like Khajuraho, Sanchi, and Bandhavgarh.

Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Government of MP addressed the session "Resurgent India Inbound - Strategy to Reposition India Amid Challenging Business Environment". He mentioned, "These destinations are being developed to manage overcrowding at popular tourist spots and cater to travelers seeking peace and unique experiences." He further added that the initiative aims to train more than 40,000 women in various tourism-related roles in order to generate employment and advance the role of women in the tourism sector that aligns the state's commitment.

The initiative aims to create jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities for women in hospitality, tour guides, handicrafts, and local businesses. Training programs will equip women with tourism skills. Offbeat destinations will generate employment, boost local economies, and preserve heritage by highlighting local traditions and customs.

Bidisha Mukherjee, the Tourism Board's Additional Managing Director, invited travel agents to explore Madhya Pardesh's natural beauty, ancient history, and diverse wildlife while promoting female tourism participation. The convention featured Travel Mart, showcasing tourism products from MP and other states, whereas a "Run for Responsible Tourism" on September 1, 2024, offering participants a chance to experience Bhopal's natural beauty and heritage on VIP Road was conducted.
