The first all-women drive-through restaurant for McDonald's India opened on Thursday in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat.

This new eatery, run by McDonald's India's franchise partner Westlife Development, is close to the Statue of Unity.

According to a statement made by the franchise partner, Westlife Development hired 28 women from local villages to run this drive-thru restaurant.

With the opening of this restaurant, Westlife now has 45 McDonald's locations in Gujarat.

Westlife Development MD Smita Jatia said, "It is an honour for us to launch our maiden all-women employee-led drive-thru restaurant in Ekta Nagar – at the land of the prestigious Statue of Unity. We believe that this initiative will enable us to strengthen our commitment towards diversity and inclusion as well as fostering communities, by bringing in more women from the region to the workforce."

According to FSSAI requirements, the women staff members of this restaurant have received training in the required safety, hygiene, and other restaurant practises.

The franchise to own and run McDonald's restaurants in the west and south of India is owned by Westlife Development through its subsidiary Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt Ltd. It runs 326 McDonald's outlets in 47 cities in the area.
