Manipuri Film on Women's Football Club to open Goa Film Festival

A Manipuri language film, ‘Andro Dreams’, will be the opening non-feature film to be played at the Indian Panorama 2023 at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The event is to be held from November 20 to 28.
The 54th IFFI will showcase a total of 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films.
Acclaimed director, Meena Longjam’s documentary ‘Andro Dreams’ takes audience along on the journey of an all-girls football club from Andro, in Imphal East district in Manipur. The film has received the ‘Best Documentary’ Award at the 8th Jagran Film Festival in Mumbai.
Meena describes ‘Andro Dreams’ as a love story of an elderly woman Laibi, and her three-decade-old all-girls football club. Set in Andro, an ancient village in Manipur, the protagonists of the movie face economic hardships, a patriarchal system, and orthodoxy in.
