Mandeep Kaur Becomes World No. 1 in Women's Singles SL3

Mandeep Kaur,a para-shuttler from India has become the new world no.1 ranked para-badminton player in the WS SL3 category.
Kaur took part in the just finished Spanish Level II Para-Badminton International competition, which was held in Vitoria Gasteiz, Spain, from February 20–26, 2023, and is one of the qualifying events for the Paris 2024 Paralympics. Together with her mixed partner Chirag Baretha, she earned a silver medal in the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 category and a bronze medal in the women's singles SL3 division.
The 28-year-old, a native of Uttarakhand, is supported by the Welspun Foundation and is currently undergoing training in Lucknow under the direction of Dronacharya Awardee and head national coach of the Indian Para-badminton team, Gaurav Khanna, who has trained elite players like Palak Kohli, Abu Hubaida, and Manoj Sarkar, to name a few.
"I am now where I always wanted to be after working so hard every single day. In a press release on Friday, Mandeep was quoted as stating, "I am grateful to my coach for his support and instruction.
Mandeep Kaur, Manasi Joshi, and Parul Parmar, the top three competitors in the women's singles SL3 division, are Welspun Super Sport Women athletes.
"She worked extremely hard every day to achieve her dream of becoming the best player in the world. Gaurav Khanna, Mandeep's coach, was ecstatic with her new ranking and stated, "That is a great win and as a coach, I am pleased of the effort and devotion she has showed over the years.
Mandeep intends to compete in additional international competitions after attaining her career high because 2023 is the year for the Paralympic qualifiers, and her goal will be to win medals and keep up her ranks.
