The University of Jammu hosted the 'J&K Women Science Congress 2024', a groundbreaking event promoting gender inclusivity in science and technology that was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The 3-day initiative aimed to transform the leadership landscape for women in scientific fields, receiving praise from Lt. Governor Sinha for its transformative potential.

The Lt. Governor expressed his appreciation for the University of Jammu and the J&K Science, Technology, and Innovation Council's innovative efforts to change the path of women leaders in scientific fields. He highlighted the need to elevate women's perspectives and contributions in critical fields like space exploration and cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence against the backdrop of a changing scientific landscape. "We are proud of women scientists and tech leaders," he said. In every field, from AI to space exploration, entrepreneurship to healthcare, creativity to education, and agriculture to research, the Nari Shakti is shattering stereotypes and motivating the next generation.

The Lieutenant Governor expressed his joy in looking at women driving innovation and progress, highlighting the UT Administration's constant efforts to close the gender gap in J&K's STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). In order to further promote women's participation in science and related fields, the Lt. Governor instructed departments and educational institutions to implement policy changes. He mentioned, "I firmly believe that women's active participation in science, technology, and research can establish India as a global innovation powerhouse,". Our main goal is development led by women in J&K. It is up to us all to accomplish this objective.

He urged universities and stakeholders to include prominent writers and filmmakers in publications and films showcasing women scientists and innovators in Jammu Kashmir, ensuring increased female participation in STEM fields. The Lt. Governor of Jammu has ordered the J&K Science and Technology Department to establish a special cell with NITI Aayog's Women Entrepreneurship Platform, promoting research and innovation.
