Lodha Developers, a leading real estate developer in India has launched its first all-women construction management team, comprising 12 phenomenal women, and is leading construction efforts at one of the developments in Mumbai. This move aims to address the gender gap in the industry and promote gender diversity. The all-women team underwent rigorous training, participating in 37 on-the-job sessions totaling over 122.5 hours over six months aiming for women's empowerment and industry-wide transformation. The six-month training program guided construction, practical on-site experiences, and classroom learning.

The Indian construction industry has been traditionally male-dominated. It faces a gender gap, with only 12 per cent of workers being women, and only 1-2 per cent holding managerial positions out of the 57 million workers. Lodha Developers has formed this all-women construction management team to foster diversity, equality, and excellence in the respective sector, aiming to empower women and catalyze industry-wide transformation. It will provide opportunities for women to flourish in the core responsibilities of construction roles.

Abhishek Lodha, MD & CEO of Lodha Developers, highlighted the importance of women's involvement in economic activities for the nation's prosperity and growth. The ongoing on-the-job training has witnessed the need for industry inclusion. He mentioned, "This is an important milestone for Lodha and the leadership who conceived and executed this thought for the first all-women construction management team. In our culture, women have always played the crucial role of shaping our home - as mother, a daughter, or a wife. The Lodha all-women is going to deliver one of the largest projects in Mumbai. It is a proud moment for us that this has become a reality. It is imperative for Indian society and economy that women are deeply involved in every section of the economic activity, which will bring significant national prosperity and growth that India is eagerly looking forward to."
