Women in Kerala will soon have exclusive kiosks where they can lodge grievances during emergency situations which is a part of the initiative of the state police.

The city-based kiosk system is designed to make it easier for women to file grievances without having to go to police stations.

The first such facility will be built in Kochi, the state's commercial hub, and it will be phased into other major cities such as Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kozhikode, Thrissur, and Kannur, according to DGP Loknath Behera.

The police deputy commissioner has been tasked with setting up the complaint kiosk in Kochi, which will be located on Marine Drive in the city's heart.

The DGP explained how it works, saying that complaints received via kiosks will be handled by police stations in the region.

In addition, the complainant will be aware of the investigation's progress over the phone, Behera added.

In light of the COVID outbreak, the police recently opened a new kiosk in Kochi's Kadavanthra to assist the public in filing complaints in the event of an emergency.

There will be a video call option to speak with a police officer in a special control room and file a complaint.

Official sources added that after listening to the complaints online, police officials would provide appropriate orders to the complainants and obtain the petitions.
