The Karnataka government has inaugurated the 'Gruha Lakshmi' scheme, aimed at providing a monthly aid of Rs 2,000 to around 1.1 crore women who are heads of households. The scheme was formally launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in a ceremony attended by AICC President M Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The 'Gruha Lakshmi' scheme is part of the Congress party's pre-poll 'guarantees' and is designed to provide direct financial assistance to women in families. This endeavor reflects the government's commitment to supporting women's economic independence and strengthening family welfare.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the significance of the initiative, highlighting that as many as 1.1 crore women who are the heads of households will receive a monthly aid of Rs 2,000 each. This will provide essential financial support to families, particularly those led by women, who often face unique challenges.

The scheme has been allocated a substantial budget of Rs 17,500 crore for the current financial year, underlining the government's dedication to ensuring its successful implementation. The launch event, which took place in Mysuru, was a noteworthy occasion, with around one lakh people in attendance to witness the commencement of this transformative initiative.

'Gruha Lakshmi' stands as one of the five pre-poll 'guarantees' of the Congress party. Notably, the Karnataka government has already taken significant steps in fulfilling its promises, having successfully implemented three out of the five guarantees. These include 'Shakti', 'Gruha Jyothi', and 'Anna Bhagya', programs that contribute to various aspects of social welfare and development.

The 'Gruha Lakshmi' scheme aligns with the government's efforts to create a more inclusive and equitable society by addressing financial disparities and supporting women's roles in families. It also serves as a recognition of women's vital contributions to households and society at large.

The event also saw the presence of AICC President M Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, underscoring the party's commitment to promoting the welfare of women and families. The ceremony took place at the Chamundeshwari temple in Mysuru, an auspicious setting for the launch of an initiative with such a positive impact.

With the inauguration of the 'Gruha Lakshmi' scheme, the Karnataka government takes a significant step toward enhancing women's economic and social well-being. As the state aims to fulfill its commitments and uplift families across the region, this program stands as a beacon of hope for women who are at the forefront of their households' progress and prosperity.
