Israel Teams-up with Indian NGO to Help Diagnose Cancer in Women

Israel has teamed up with an Indian non-governmental organization (NGO) to issues need to be addressed women in India to diagnose cancer.
According to recently appointed Israel envoy to India Naor Gilon, the team is striving to raise awareness about preventative measures that may be done against cancer-like conditions in collaboration with Khushii NGO and Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute.
Gilon said, “the idea here is that we are bringing four gynecologists from Israel, putting them in two different separate camps in the south and north of Delhi in less privileged neighborhoods in order to do tests for women”.
The team will also educate women about the need of taking care of their health and using preventative medicine. Gilon further said “cancer today, especially breast cancer, is something that if you detect early enough, it's in many cases a curable and early detection is critical”.
The envoy also stated that if the necessity arises, Israel might send additional such delegations in the future.
Whether or if more Israeli representatives will join the team, the envoy said, “I think that the knowledge and the know-how are here it's more creating the momentum if it will be needed in the future. I'm sure we will find the ability to bring more delegations like this one”.
In 2003, cricket legend Kapil Dev established the Khushii Foundation to assist youngsters better their lives through education. In India, the organization is likewise trying to improve the lives of impoverished women. The envoy also stated that India and Israel are working closely together to finalize a free trade agreement between the two nations by June.
The envoy said, “I really hope we can do that [finalise the agreement] because free trade agreement can help both sides, it can help trade between the country's exchange of expert workers and other things”.
A Free Trade Agreement is being negotiated between India and Israel. On May 26, 2010, the first round of negotiations took place in New Delhi. Since then, eight rounds have been staged. According to the International Trade Administration, a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is an agreement between two or more nations in which the governments agree on specific requirements that influence trade in products and services, investor protections, and intellectual property rights, among other things.
