The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) recently organized an event aimed at promoting women's entrepreneurship among students. Government Degree College students from Awantipora had the opportunity to participate in the Women Entrepreneurship Awareness and Sensitization Camp. The initiative, hosted by the Women Entrepreneurship Development Cell in collaboration with the Centre of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Cell (CIED) at IUST, sought to instil an entrepreneurial spirit in aspiring women leaders.

Dr. Parvez Ahmed Mir, the Director of CIED at IUST, played a pivotal role in exposing participants to the global entrepreneurship culture and highlighting available opportunities in this field. He also shared inspirational success stories of ventures that received support from CIED at IUST, inspiring students with real-world examples.

Dr. Rumaan Bashir, the Coordinator of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Cell (WEDC) at CIED, emphasized the critical importance of skill development. She shed light on various initiatives undertaken by the Kalaam Academy of Skill Development at IUST, demonstrating the institution's commitment to empowering students with practical skills.

Dr. Ruheela Hassan, a member of WEDC, emphasized that the startup culture is a tangible reality and that nurturing an innovative spirit among students is paramount. She highlighted the significance of acquiring skills alongside formal education, which can open new vistas of opportunity.

During the camp, students had the valuable opportunity to explore various university facilities, including the Development and Innovation Centre (DIC), the Development and Innovation Team (DIT), and the Rumi Library.

This event aligns with WEDC's broader campaign to cultivate and support women entrepreneurs in the region. By providing students with exposure to entrepreneurial concepts, success stories, and skill development opportunities, IUST aims to empower the next generation of female business leaders.

The camp not only fosters a spirit of entrepreneurship but also encourages students, especially women, to consider business ventures and innovation as viable and rewarding career paths. In a world where entrepreneurship is driving economic growth and innovation, initiatives like these are pivotal in bridging the gender gap in this field.

The engagement of educational institutions in promoting women's entrepreneurship serves as a beacon of progress and equality, facilitating an environment where women can thrive as business leaders, innovators, and contributors to economic development. Such initiatives contribute to the broader goal of gender inclusivity in entrepreneurship and leadership roles, making strides toward a more balanced and equitable future.
