Indonesian social commerce platform Evermos has won the third Nikkei Asia Award for its role in enabling the economic independence of women in Indonesia.
Evermos has been credited for creating jobs for women in rural cities where employment opportunities are quite less in number. Women can become resellers of miscellaneous goods and food products, which in turn gives them the opportunity to gain economic independence.
The 2018 established platform renders food products, clothing items, sundry goods, and other merchandise for daily consumption by Muslims, who account for nearly 90% of Indonesia's population. It has an array of sharia-compliant products, which are supplied by more than 800 small and midsize Indonesian companies.
Evermos has been committed to supporting small and midsize retailers and manufacturers in Indonesia since its inception. The platform has built a mechanism that removes hurdles faced by small and medium-sized retailers and manufacturers.
70% of Evermos’ registered resellers are women, a majority of whom reside in rural cities.
