The Indian women's hockey team is set to win the Women's Asian Champions Trophy in Ranchi, India, after overcoming shortcomings from the Asian Games in Hangzhou. Captain Savita expressed confidence in their team's determination to overcome these issues and secure the title in less than a week.
The Indian women's hockey team arrived in Ranchi on Sunday showcasing a burst of energy and confidence for the trophy which will start soon. A large crowd of fans greeted the team at Birda Munda Airport. The event, scheduled from 27 October 2023 to 5 November 2023, will be held at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi.
India's women's hockey team, led by captain Savita is preparing for Jharkhand Women's Asian Champions Trophy Ranchi 2023. The team, which clinched a bronze medal at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, is aiming for their second title in the tournament. Team India has previously grabbed the respective title in 2016.
The team will play against Thailand, Malaysia, China, Japan, and Korea in a round-robin stage format. The top four teams will advance to the semifinals after all six teams compete in the five matches.
India's Chief Coach Janneke Schopman emphasized the team's recent performance at the Asian Games and the need for improvement in the upcoming tournament. The team is eager to showcase their best hockey skills, with Captain Savita also sharing her viewpoints and the excitement the team has after arriving in Ranchi. She says the warm welcome in Ranchi has inspired and motivated the team, boosting their confidence and determination to claim the coveted title.
