Indian Women's Hockey Team Face 1-3 Defeat against Germany

Germany defeated the Indian women's hockey team 1-3 in the 5 Nations Tournament Valencia 2023. The match was held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. While Nikki Pradhan (34') scored India's lone goal, captain Nike Lorez (11'), Hanna Carina Granitzki (23'), and Charlotte Stapenhorst (52') led the charge for Germany with one goal each.
During the opening quarter, Germany took over the match. Germany took the lead right away when captain Nike Lorez slotted the ball past Bichu Devi Kharibam.
With a penalty corner goal in the second quarter, Hanna Carina Granitzki gave Germany a two-point lead.
The revived Indian team attempted to threaten the German goal after the first half. It was Nikki Pradhan who gave India a lead in the game with a goal from a penalty corner as the Germans were coming under increasing pressure.
Soon after Charlotte Stapenhorst's goal in the final quarter gave Germany's team a two-goal lead again and secured the win, the game turned back in their favor.
Ireland will face the Indian women's hockey team in their last game of the competition on Thursday.
The 5 Nations Tournament Valencia 2023, is a hockey tournament scheduled for December 15-22 in Valencia, Spain, and will feature five teams in both men's and women's events. While the Indian women's team plays against Ireland, Belgium, Germany, and Spain, the men's team competes against Spain, Belgium, Germany, and France. The Indian teams are using the tournament as a practice run for the main events of the following year.
