Indian Women's Cricket Team beat England in third T20 match

The Indian women’s cricket team won over England by five wickets in the third T20 match of the Tri series at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

England had won the previous two matches. This last win helped salvage a complete whitewash for Team Blue.

India chose to bowl first after losing the toss. Indian spinners Shreyanka Patil and Saika Ishaque displayed remarkable by dismantling England’s middle order. English Captain Heather Knight however managed to score a half-century which helped the team reach a final score of 126. From the Indian side, Smriti Mandhana scored 48, helping India achieve the victory.

India Pacer Renuka Singh began the game by taking Maia Bouchier’s wicket in the third ball of the very first over. She then took Sophia Dunkley’s wicket in her second over.

Saika Ishaque, the Indian spinner then stopped Alice Capsey at 7 runs by scoring her wicket. Moving ahead Knight and Amy Jones played a 41-run partnership however, Saika dismantled the partnership in the 12th over, by taking Jones's wicket.

Danielle Gibson lost her wicket next at Saika’s hands. Following this spinner Shreyanka took three consecutive wickets bringing England to a worrisome total of 76/8.

Heather Knight came on to play with stability and scored 52 runs off 42 balls. She was supported by Charlie Dean who scored 16 runs. Amanjot Kaur took Knight’s wicket ending England’s innings at a score of 126.  

India’s batting side saw Shafali Verma lose her wicket early on Freya Kemp. Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues stabilized India’s position by putting up 57 for the second wicket.

Charlie Dean then took Jemimah’s wicket. Deepti Sharma came on the crease and with Smriti took India’s tally to 94. But she was bowled out by Jones off Kemp.

India was 15 runs to the victory when Smriti lost her wicket with two runs short of a half-century.  Richa Ghosh lost her wicket in the first ball of the crucial over but Amanjot Kaur scored 10 off just four balls to help India cross the victory mark.
