Indian Women's Compound Archery Team advances to the Finals

The Indian women's compound archery team advanced to the finals by defeating the hosts USA 226-225, however the men's team was eliminated in the World Championship's last eight stage.
Priya Gurjar, Muskan Kirar, and Jyothi Surekha, the seventh-seeded women's team, held their nerves in a tight struggle with Linda Ochoa-Anderson, Paige Pearce, and Makenna Proctor on Wednesday.
In the final, the Indian women's team will meet top seeded Colombia. In the semifinals, Colombia defeated France 234-220.
Verma and Surekha, a mixed pair, also advanced to the final, defeating Korea's Kim Yunhee and Kim Jongho 159-156. In the summit match, they will face second-seeded Colombia.
Three-time World Cup gold medalist Verma, along with Sangam Bisla and Roshab Yadav, fought valiantly in the men's section but were unable to proceed. The men's team from India was seeded fifth in the draw.
In the first round, the Indian compound archery team defeated Denmark 235-226 to go to the quarter-finals. Great Britain resisted them vehemently there.
In the shootout, the Indian trio hit three ten-pointers with pinpoint accuracy to put pressure on the United Kingdom. The third seed eventually buckled under the pressure and was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
In the semi-finals, India trailed the United States for the first three sets, with scores of 57-56, 57-58, and 56-54, before exploding in the final set, scoring 58 to finish one point ahead of the United States, who scored just 55 in the last set thanks to a dreadful eight-pointer.
However, the men's team, led by Abhishek Verma, was defeated by Austria in the quarterfinals 235-238. Meanwhile, during the World Archery Championships, participants voted to elect Natalia Avdeeva of Russia and Abhishek Verma of India to the World Archery athletes' committee.
