Indian Women Make History with Test Match Victory Over South Africa

Indian women’s cricket team created history by defeating South Africa in the Test match being held in Chennai.
On the end of second day, Indian women declared at a total of 603 for six, making it the highest total scored in women's Test cricket history.
On the first day, India made a score of 525 for 4. This was the highest runs ever scored in a single day of Test cricket, men or women. It was also the first ever over 500 total scored on day one in women’s Test cricket.
The most spectacular player was Shafali Verma who scored a mammoth 205 making it the fastest double century to be scored in women’s Test history.
Shafali became the first woman to score over 200 runs in a single day of a Test match. The 20-year-old is now the second-youngest female to score a Test double-century.
She built a 292-run partnership with Smriti Mandhana which is now the highest opening innings every played in women’s Test cricket.
Harmanpreet Kaur and Richa Ghosh who scored 143 runs in partnership became the highest partnership total in the highest fifth-wicket stand.
The South African team scored 266 runs in their first innings and reached a total of 232 for 2 wickets in their second innings on day three.
