Indian Women Archers Win Bronze at Asian Archery Championships 2023

Indian Women's recurve and men's compound teams secured bronze medals at the Asian Archery Championships 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.
In the women's recurve bronze medal match, Tisha Punia, Bhajan Kaur, and Ankita Bhakat defeated Chinese Taipei 5-1. Chien-Ying Lei, a member of the bronze medal-winning team at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, led Chinese Taipei.
India's Archery team lost to the Republic of Korea 6-2 in the semi-finals, ending their chances of winning their first Paris 2024 Olympics quota. An San, the Olympic champion in both mixed and individual events was leading the Korean team.
In the non-Olympic compound Archery, the women's team defeated Thailand 228-217 in the semifinals and secured gold. The team comprised Aditi Swami, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, and Praneet Kaur. The Indian trio will face Chinese Taipei in the finals.
Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Praneet Kaur advanced to the finals of the individual women's compound, while Aditi Swami lost to Bonna Akter of Bangladesh in the third round.
Aditi Swami and Priyansh advanced to the mixed team final after defeating Kazakhstan's Adel Zhexenbinova and Andrey Tyutyun and will face Thailand's Kanoknapus Kaewchomphu and Lertruangsilp Nawayut.
In the men's compound individual event, Abhishek Verma aims for bronze after losing to Kazakhstan's Andrey Tyutyun 148-146 in the semi-finals. The Asian Archery Championships will be followed by the Asian individual Olympic Qualifiers from November 9 to 12 at the same venue, offering two Olympic quotas in men's and women's recurve archery events.
