The Indian Navy praised two women officers from the Navika Sagar Parikrama II expedition for their exceptional bravery in navigating the tough waters of the South Atlantic Ocean, marking a significant achievement in women's empowerment within the armed forces.
The Navy expressed its admiration for Lt Cdr Dilna and Lt Cdr Roopa, highlighting their resilience in overcoming fierce tides, navigating through storms, and proving that, like the world, the oceans have no boundaries for their courage.
Navika Sagar Parikrama II stands as a symbol of progress, demonstrating the Indian Navy's leadership in empowering women. The two officers set sail on this global circumnavigation mission aboard INSV Tarini in October 2024, taking on a challenging journey that highlights their remarkable endurance and expertise.On International Women's Day, the Indian Navy shared on X, "Adm Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of Navy Staff, and all Indian Navy personnel salute Lt Cdr Dilna and Lt Cdr Roopa."
On International Women's Day, Lt Cdr Dilna shared an inspiring message "To all the strong women in my life and across the globe, I wish you a very happy International Women's Day. Today, we celebrate our strength, resilience, and determination. Each one of you has inspired, motivated, and made a difference in my life."
"Let us remember that our voice, our story, and our presence are important. Never let anyone dim your light. Let's stand united—independent, respectful, and supportive of each other. As I sail alongside Lt Cdr Roopa, I am reminded of the strength of female friendship and our ability to overcome any challenges life throws at us," she added.
Lt Cdr Roopa shared similar sentiments, dedicating her message to the women who have shaped her journey."To all the mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, colleagues, and aunts – you’ve all played a pivotal role in my life, sparking a fire within me that has driven me to pursue my dreams. You've given me the strength and courage to evolve from a girl into a woman, challenging stereotypes along the way," she said.
Encouraging women to embrace their potential, she added, "Put yourself first and everything else will fall into place. I'm grateful to be part of a society where support for women and unity among us is growing stronger. Let’s uplift and empower each other, seize opportunities, and remember—we can be change-makers, leaders, innovators, and even sailors."
