Indian government invites applications for the National Tech Excellence Award for Women 2022 from Indian

The government has opened submissions for the National Tech Excellence Award for Women 2022 to honour women scientists and entrepreneurs who have made substantial contributions to the commercialization of unique indigenous technology.

The coveted India National Tech Excellence Award for Women 2022 has been given to Indian women scientists and entrepreneurs for pursuing, prevailing, making an influence, and etching out stories of inspiration for future young girls.

In honour of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Technology Development Board, a statutory organisation under the Department of Science and Technology, has established an award that will be handed on March 8, 2022, on International Women's Day.

The awards are mostly divided into two categories:

– National Women Scientist Award for Translational Research Excellence; &

- Award for Women Entrepreneurs in the United States.

Both prizes will be given out in two categories: Senior (45 years and up) and Young (under 45 years) (Below 45 years). The honorees will get a monetary prize of Rs. 3 lakh for senior and Rs. 1 lakh for young, with a total of two prizes in each category.

The deadline for submitting the application is 5:00 PM on February 15, 2022.

In science, technology, and entrepreneurship, Indian women have made significant contributions. Women entrepreneurs have carved their way and emerged as leaders across numerous sectors in rural India when given a flourishing and equitable entrepreneurial space, indicating that they are capable mentors for future generations.

Women have made major contributions in a variety of sectors over the years, most notably in science and technology.

Various women who have contributed significantly to fields such as aerospace, medical research, biotechnology, meteorology, and many more.

With the implementation of various schemes and initiatives such as Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, "KIRAN" (Knowledge Involvement in Research Advancement through Nurturing), "GATI" – Gender Advancement for Transforming Institutions, and many other women scientist schemes, the Government of India has been continuously focusing on women empowerment in Science and Technology.

All of these activities aim to promote Indian women's abilities, and the Department of Science and Technology has long been a champion of talented women in science.
