Avani Prashanth who is just 16 years old will likely represent India in golf at the Asian Games in Hangzhou next month as the nation’s youngest golfer ever. Avani hails from Bangalore and had a dream to represent India in Golf at both Asian and Olympic tournaments.

Avani began playing Golf when she was a mere three years old. Her father motivated her to make her game so strong that she could represent India, for which he made a training schedule as well. She even prepared a team when the trials were held in 2022 but unfortunately, the tournament was put on hold.

This young champion was incredibly relieved to return to the team this year. She calls it a perfect time as she was able to play a lot of games abroad. British mentor Laurence Brotheridge has been training Avani for more than four years. He has always appreciated the distinctiveness of Avani's swing as it is her strength and she hits the ball farther than any other professional in the world.

The women's team was at its best performance regarding medal prospects but still, we aim for the gold, says Avani. She also aims for an individual victory and she is working hard to achieve that.

Avani said that she is attempting a variety of shots while also keeping the challenging ones together. Avani is currently busy with the Ladies European Tour Access Series event in Sweden.

Prior to boarding the flight to China, she intends to travel to Amsterdam and then take a brief break to visit her family in Bengaluru.
