The Indian Army held an "Educative Health Forum" in the Machhal sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara region as part of an attempt to commemorate May as "Women's Empowerment Month."
According to a statement released by the Indian Army, counselling sessions were held as part of the forum to empower women on health issues, personal cleanliness, maternal health issues, education, and different government initiatives.
Machhal, which is made up of nine villages and is located in a remote area far from the district headquarters, lags decades behind in several social and human development indices, according to the Army.
The Indian Army issued a statement, "The Indian Army collaborated with Seema Sheriff, Health and Relationship Coach from Bengaluru, to conduct these sessions at Machhal." This is the first time that such a step has been undertaken so close to the Line of Control, "
Seema visited Macchal, Dapbal, Dudi, Katwar, Tshuntwari, and Chakki villages on May 6 or 7 and conducted workshops on maternity health awareness and menstrual hygiene for around 300 women across the tehsil, according to the statement.
The women were highly appreciative of Seema's education and actively engaged in the sessions. It added that such an endeavour will go a long way toward improving women's health and hygiene in this rural part of Kupwara district.
The last tehsil in the Kupwara district is Machhal, which is located close to the Line of Control.
