New Zealand's women's cricket team will face India in ICC Women's World Cup in 2022.
When the Women in Blue face the White Ferns in a six-match series that includes a T20 and five ODIs, they will put the finishing touches on their preparations for the 2017 World Cup, which will be staged in New Zealand for the first time in 22 years.
The ICC Women's World Cup, which was postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 epidemic, will take place from March to early April, serving as the highlight of the New Zealand summer and a high-profile finish to the season.
A home and away short-form series between Australia and New Zealand, consisting of three ODIs and a T20, will be played across the Tasman in late January and early February, as well as three trans-Tasman T20s in March.
The Netherlands, who will come in late March for their tour to New Zealand, having most recently been in 2014 to play World Cup qualifiers against Kenya and Canada, will be New Zealand's penultimate commitment for the summer.
The Netherlands will begin their trip with a Twenty20 match at Bay Oval, followed by three One-Day Internationals, the first of which will be played at the University of Otago Oval in Dunedin and the last two at Hamilton's Seddon Park. The delay in releasing the summer timetable was unavoidable, according to NZC chief executive David White, due to the impact of COVID-19 both in New Zealand and internationally, as well as the knock-on consequences on foreign travel.
White said, “It hasn't been a straightforward process and we've needed to work through a number of unexpected changes before finalizing the arrangements. Having said that, I'm delighted with the volume and quality of the international cricket to be played over the summer, particularly given the importance of, and the relevance connected to these games. The India series is a crucial part of the WHITE FERNS' World Cup preparations”.
He underlines, "the four Tests are very important for the BLACKCAPS in terms of their World Test Championship defence. And, as part of the ICC Super League, the BLACKCAPS' six ODIs carry similar significance”.
