
India To Host First-Ever Conference of Women Peacekeepers at UN Missions

India is all set to host a two-day conference for women peacekeepers at UN missions beginning on Monday. The event aims to highlight the contributions of women peacekeepers. The conference which will be held in New Delhi will see the coming together of women peacekeepers from 35 Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) from the Global South.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is organizing the event in collaboration with the Centre for United Nations Peacekeeping (CUNPK) and defence ministry.
The conference will see the keynote being delivered by External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar.
A release by the MEA stated that the theme for the two-day event will be 'Women in Peacekeeping: A Global South Perspective'. To be held on February 24 and 25, this is the first ever conference for women peacekeepers.
Under-Secretary-General, Department of Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix and UN Special Coordinator Christian Saunders will be representing the United Nations (UN) at the special event. They will come together with other stakeholders from the domain of peacekeeping, as mentioned in the MEA statement.
