India suffer a Narrow Loss 32-30 to Iran in Asian Women's Handball 2024

India's women's team suffered a narrow 32-30 loss to Iran at the 20th Asian Women's Handball Championship (AWHC) 2024. During the intense match and despite a heroic defense by Nina Shil, the team struggled to secure the win. Shalini Thakur scored the opening goal, while Bhawana Sharma scored from the penalty spot for India.
India's performance at the 20th AWHC 2024 has been impressive. India won their first match against Hong Kong 31-28, and key performers Bhawana Sharma, Menika, and skipper Diksha Kumari were instrumental. India will face Japan in their final group match, which is crucial to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the championship.
The 20th Asian Women's Handball Championship (AWHC) 2024 has kickstarted in New Delhi at the Indira Gandhi Arena, on December 3 and will conclude on December 10, 2024. Eight teams from two groups will compete in round-robin matches, semi-finals, and medal matches, The top four teams will qualify for the 2025 World Women's Handball Championship in Germany and the Netherlands. Group A consists, of South Korea, China, Kazakhstan, and Singapore whereas Group B includes India, Japan, Iran, and Hong Kong. Indian team is led by Diksha Kumari with key players Nina Shil, Bhawana Sharma, Priyanka Thakur, Menika, and Manika Pal.
