India's Junior Women's 10m air Pistol Team wins Gold

In the 10m Air Pistol team competition on Day Eight of the 15th Asian Airgun Championship in Daegu, South Korea, the junior women's Indian team, which included Olympian Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Shikha Narwal, won the gold medal. With one day of competition left, the Indian three defeated the South Korean team of Kim Minseo, Kim Juhee, and Yang Jiin 16-12 in the championship match to claim the nation's 23rd gold medal.
After shooting through two rounds of qualification, Manu, Esha, and Shikha advanced to the final. With a score of 862, they tied the Asian record for the event and won the first race. With a cumulative score of 576, they maintained their lead in the second qualification round as well.
They were followed into the gold medal contest by the hosts South Korea, who finished second with a score of 572. Although the Koreans fought valiantly, the Indian trio ultimately prevailed.
The South Korean team of Kim Jangmi, Kim Bomi, and Hyunyoung Yoo defeated the Indian team of Rhythm Sangwan, Palak, and Yuvika Tomar for the gold medal by a similar 12-16 score, earning India a silver medal on the same day in the Women's 10m Air Pistol team competition. With a score of 854, Rhythm, Palak, and Yuvika finished fourth in the first round of qualification before winning round two to go to the gold medal match.
To Korea's 576, who came in second, they fired 578. Singapore won bronze in the competition, while the Koreans defeated the Indians to win gold in the final.
The Indian shooting team holds the top spot in the medal standings at the Asian Airgun Championship 2022 with 36 medals, including 23 gold, nine silver, and four bronze. With 26 medals—four gold, fourteen silver, and eight bronze—South Korea comes in second behind India on the podium. The 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team and Mixed Team Junior events are scheduled for the final day of the competition, and India will try to end the competition with more victories.
