India's first all-girls Sainik School, affiliated with CBSE, has been inaugurated in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, with ex-servicemen as its guidance. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the ceremony of the respective school.

This is an important milestone in the Indian educational system's direction of gender empowerment and equality. Additionally, it is followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement on the 75th anniversary of Independence that Sainik Schools, which had previously only admitted boys, would now admit girls as well.

The institution will serve as a beacon for female students who wish to join in the military to defend their country, according to the Defence Minister, who referred to the occasion as a "golden moment in the history of women empowerment."

Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School, which has about 870 students, was founded as part of an initiative to open 100 new Sainik Schools in all states and union territories in collaboration with NGOs, private schools, and state governments. Of those, 42 have already opened, the Defense Minister said in a statement.

According to officials, the school that is associated with the CBSE will have 120 seats and its instructors will be former defence service members.

Attending the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spoke extensively about the "importance of empowering women, their dignity and self-reliance." "Without the empowerment of women, a strong society is impossible. We will all need to collaborate to accomplish this. It will be necessary to break society's embedded conservative thinking," he stated.

The chief minister discussed his plan to open Sainik School in Lucknow to female students in 2018. In 2019, the Minister of Defence approved a gradual admission of female students to Sainik Schools beginning with the 2021–2022 academic year. The decision was made in response to the Defense Ministry's pilot project at Sainik School in Chhingchhip, Mizoram, which proved successful.
