India hosts event on Women, Children & Adolescent Health at World Health Assembly

India hosted a Women, Children, and Adolescent Health event at the 77th World Health Assembly, in Geneva, in collaboration with Norway, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the Partnership for Maternal, newborn, and Child Health (PMNCH). The event aimed to discuss evidence, and opportunities in promoting investment in maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health, advocate for policy adjustments, and prioritize the needs of diverse population groups.
India's Union Health Secretary and Head of the Indian Delegation, Apurva Chandra, emphasized India's commitment to implementing active measures for the well-being of women, children, and adolescents. He highlighted initiatives like India's Reproductive and Child Health (RCH)-1 and (RCH)-2, Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram, and TeleManas that have progressed in Indian people's healthcare. The Health Secretary also highlighted the need for effective communication strategies and youth group representation in health programs. It was discussed as a significant step in stakeholder planning and implementing any health program.
The event was graced by senior representatives from the Union Health Ministry, including Additional Secretary, Union Health Ministry, Ms. Hekali Zhimomi; Additional Secretary and Managing Director (NHM), Union Health Ministry, Aradhana Patnaik and other prominent delegates of the Union Health Ministry.
